Colvend

Where the Colvend Coast gets its Name

The Colvend and Southwick shore offers a varied and rugged landscape, with its many cliffs, woodlands, and hidden bays.

The area has been considerably opened up with the provision of several excellent footpaths, including a coastal path from Rockcliffe to Sandyhills, and a forest walk from Colvend to Dalbeattie, all of which travel through unspoilt and picturesque countryside.

With its sandy beaches, excellent seaward views, and its varied and abundant wildlife, the area makes an ideal centre for activity holidays for all the family. Colvend also boasts an 18-hole golf course where you can enjoy the fantastic scenery while trying to improve your score.

In the village the conversion of a petrol station into an interactive display about the area,  called 'The Secret Coast' is well worth a visit, and is geared for children as well as adults. You will find this most informative about the past history of this part of Scotland, and also the delights you can still find.

Colvend village has a shop  for all your basic needs, a Post Office, and a very nice restaurant. There is also pottery studio nearby and a farm shop selling Portugese pottery with a delightful farmhouse tearoom and room for the children to explore and play.
