Mountain Biking

Dalbeattie:

Dalbeattie Forest, on the edge of Dalbeattie Town, is renowned for its wildlife, scenic walks and more especially, its Mountain Bike Trails as part of the 7-Stanes group of mountain bike Trails in the South of Scotland. Enter at the Richorn Trailhead which is reached from the A710 Dalbeattie to Solway Coast road close to the town.

The cycle trails are identified by colours, varying from tracks to suit beginners to more challenging ones for experienced riders:-
Green: Easy route for all the family.
Blue: Moderate route for Novice and family use.
Red: Difficult route for good cyclists
Black: Severe route for expert mountain bikers

When you begin to ride the trails you'll get a taste for Dalbeattie's granite origins as you'll be pedalling right over it! The Slab and The Qualifier are famous ( or even notorious) granite outcrops, which can challenge even the most experienced Mountain Biker. More information about mountain biking locally from www.mb7.com the local organisation.

If you are planning a visit then you'll find a warm welcome at Dalbeattie. The local community has taken a keen interest in the mountain bike developments in the forest and the people are eager to tell you all the other things to do in the area.
